The Devi Bhagavata Purana, also known as Devi Bhagavatam, Bhagavata Purana, Shrimad Bhagavatam, and Shrimad Devi Bhagavatam, is a Sanskrit text and one of the eighteen major Puranas of Hinduism. The text is considered a Mahapurana for Goddess worshippers. This Purana, approved by the meaning of the famous Shrutis of the Most Holy Veda, is the source of the mystery of all the scriptures and holds its famous place in the Agamas. It is full of the five characteristics like Sarg, Pratisarga, Lineage, Vanshanukriti, Manvantara, etc. Paramba is full of sacred narrations of Bhagwati. There are about 18,000 verses in this purana.
Once, God-loving and virtuous Maharishis prayed to Sutji, the supreme disciple of Shri Ved Vyas—O ocean of knowledge! We were very happy to hear about the divine character and wonderful pastimes of Lord Vishnu and Shankar from your Shrimukh. Now please bless the human race by reciting the holiest Puranic tales that provide all happiness, give spiritual power, and provide enjoyment and salvation. Knowing the sincere desires of the knowledgeable and humble Mahatmas, Mahamuni Sutji accepted the grace. He said, "Out of the longing for the public welfare, you have expressed a very beautiful wish." I'll tell you all about it. It is true that the Shri Mad Devi Bhagavata Purana is the greatest of all scriptures and religious texts. Just as darkness dissipates in the presence of the sun's light, similarly, all sufferings, ailments, and hesitations of a human being end by listening to the Bhagavata Purana.
