Srimad Bhagavat, also known as Bhagavat Purana, is one of the most important Puranas in Hinduism. It is a most sacred book, and devotees of Lord Vishnu hold it in high regard. It is a book about Narayana, his avatars, and Lord Krishna's detailed account.
The book, written by Rishi Vyasadeva, contains eighteen thousand verses divided into twelve cantos. The Bhagwat Purana is said to have been narrated by Shuka Mahamuni (son of Ved Vyas) during King Parikshit's Sarpayagya (Grandson of Arjuna). Among other things, this ancient book contains Lord Vishnu's Mahabharta (Krishna avatar), Ramayan (Rama avatar), and Narismha avatar.
